Zakirah Zakaria │ Believe Layout Inspiration

Hi everyone! Zakirah here, and today I want to share a page with you that I made with Believe:

Believe is a Christmas-themed collection from Amie, and when I saw the collection, I love it because of the color palette. Even though I don’t celebrate Christmas, I find the collection versatile enough & can be used to scrap non-themed pages. I decided to scrap the lyrics of one of my favorite songs, The Chosen One by Maher Zain, for my personal photobook. I used a template by Cindy Schneider to make the process speedier (I’m crunched with scrapping time lately).
I like the page and I think the collection works great for non-Christmas pages. So if you grabbed Believe, don’t just use it for your holiday album - stretch it further by using it on non-themed pages too!

Zakirah Zakiria │ Austen Collection Inspiration │ Publisher's Picks - 50% Off!

Hi everyone! Zakirah here with today’s blog post.
Remember the gorgeous Austen collection by Amie? Well, I fell in love with it & I thought it was perfect for scrapping my love for the public libraries & free reads, so I made a 2-pager:
A closer look on the pages:

A little background to the journaling - back in March, my family was afflicted with dengue fever. It was caused by a certain type of mosquitoes called Aedes. When they bite you, you’ll get dengue fever, which is really, really painful and takes almost a month to fully recover from it. Well, it turned out that we owned too many things and there are places in our housing area that became the breeding grounds for these mosquitoes. We did a big house cleanup where we not only clean our house & its surrounding, but also cleared out the things that we don’t use anymore.
Fast forward this month, we’re still clearing out even more stuff slowly, and part of the things that owned too much of were books. We’ve donated boxes upon boxes of them to the public libraries, but believe me, we still have a few boxes left to give away. We had too many books!
So after that episode in our lives, I learned from that lesson - refrain from buying books. I think that borrowing first would be ideal because you’d get to read and see if that book is really what you need. If you like it, then you can buy it. If not, then, you’d save a space on your bookshelf for other books that you’ll actually keep.
So have you grabbed the collection yet? Be sure to get it at The Digital Press!

Zakirah Zakaria │ Digital Tutorial

Hi everyone! Zakirah here. Today I want to share a little secret on how to create new patterned papers from existing papers in a kit so you could get more papers from the kit. Sounds too good to be true? Let's find out

To make the process easier, we'll use a template. So let's gather our tools & materials. You'll need:

1. A kit / paper pack (I use It's My Party! from LLC for this tutorial)
2. 6x8 Template Set 2 by LLC
3. A graphic editor (like Photoshop or Photoshop Elements)

Let's begin!

1. First, pick a template from Amie's 6x8 Template Set 2. I chose the one pictured above.
2. Pick 2 patterned papers and 2 solids from the kit.
3. Clip the papers to the template layers A
4. Merge all the layers (except the white Background layer) together.
5. Cut the new paper in the middle so you'll have 2 long pieces of coordinating patterned papers.

Done! You can now use your new patterned papers on your scrapbook pages. I used mine like so:

Zakirah Zakaria │ Hybrid Notebooks

Hi everyone! Zakirah here from Little Lamm & Co's Creative Team. Today I would like to share with you a little DIY project that I created with Amie's new kit.
A few weeks ago, my family and I started to purge our home from clutter. I found tons of loose foolscap papers from my sisters' school years. They're all still nice and usable so I decided to make some DIY notebooks.
I've never made my own notebooks before, so I had to Google for a tutorial. I found  a great step-by-step tutorial from this website  that used rubber cement to bind the papers.  Thankfully for a newbie like me, making a simple DIY notebook is not that hard.

I used Elmer's Rubber Cement, which can be found in most hardware stores (like Ace Hardware). A 4oz bottle costed me about $4.50 (MYR 14, in my currency).

I decided to cut the foolscap papers into half, so the size of the notebook is like Michele Wooderson's (of Mish Mash blog - she makes BEAUTIFUL handmade notebooks!):

Without further ado, here's a few shots of the book-making process:

1. I designed the covers using Photoshop, and got it printed at a local print shop. After cutting the covers & papers into size, I bound them using Elmer's rubber cement. I applied the rubber cement on the papers first, left them to dry and applied a few more coats to strengthen the bind. Then, I added the front & back cover, and applied a few coats of rubber cement on them to bind.

2. Here's how they look like in close-up:

3. The inside of the notebook, when the rubber cement is dry:

4. When the covers & papers are properly bound, I applied a masking tape to hold the front & back covers together:

5. Finally, here are the finished notebooks:

6. I embellished the front covers a bit. I used a foam tape to secure the flower into place, and VitalFix super glue to fix the beads onto the cover.

A few more shots of the finished notebooks:

Here's a list of Amie's products that I used in this project:

If you have any questions, feel free to write them down on the comment section below and I will do my best to answer them.
